Donavan Mager is the senior communicator for WIPP management and operations contractor, Washington TRU Solutions. He has been a professional communicator for more than three decades, beginning his career as a reporter in 1985 before transitioning to a career in public relations, project communications, media relations and corporate communications.

Mager previously served as the team leader for WIPP media relations from 1993 to 1999. After WIPP’s opening in 1999, he became the public affairs officer for the Army’s chemical weapons destruction facility in Alabama. Before rejoining the WIPP project in late 2010, Mager was part of the corporate communications department for WTS’s parent company, URS Corporation.

As the manager of strategic communications, Mager is responsible for planning and executing all internal and external communications activities in coordination with the Department of Energy.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Eastern New Mexico University.
